How to reply to Google reviews, good and bad
Your replies are read by every future customer. A few simple rules help you sound warm, professional and human.
By Give Me Five Star Team 1 min read
People don't only read your reviews. They read how you reply. A kind, calm reply can win a customer even when the review itself is negative.
Replying to good reviews
Keep it short, personal and real:
- Thank them by name if it's shown
- Mention something specific they liked
- Invite them back
Example: "Thank you, Sita! We're so glad you enjoyed the jhol momo. See you again soon."
Replying to bad reviews
Stay calm, even if the review feels unfair. Future customers are watching how you handle problems.
- 1Thank them for the feedback
- 2Apologise for their experience, without arguing
- 3Explain briefly what you're doing to fix it
- 4Take it offline: share a phone number or WhatsApp to sort it out
Example: "Thank you for telling us, and we're sorry the wait was so long on Saturday. We've added another staff member for weekends. Please call us so we can make it right."
Things to avoid
- Arguing or blaming the customer
- Sharing private details about their visit
- Copying the same reply for every review
Catch problems before they reach Google
With Give Me Five Star, customers who aren't happy can send you private feedback from your review page. You hear about the problem first and can fix it quickly.
Try to reply within a day or two. Quick replies show you care.
